Annual Spring Potluck and Tour, May 2012
About 50 WCSWA members attended the May 22nd annual spring potluck and tour at the Hanschus’ Little Beaver Creek Tree Farm. The weather was threatening with scattered sprinkles, but the Hanschu’s large post and beam shed (constructed from timbers on the property) provided an excellent sheltered venue for the event. The Shumaker’s large outdoor grill cooked up hamburgers and hot dogs, and the generous contributions of members provided many delicious side dishes for the feast.
After an update on the Tualatin River Watershed Council, of which WCSWA is a charter member, the Hanschu’s led the group on their “outdoor learning center” trails to see and discuss their past and recent management activities. The rain held off, the food was excellent, and the chance to look at a top notch tree farm was appreciated by all!
